Cinnamon

Cinnamon is a spice obtained from the inner bark of several tree species from the genus Cinnamomum plant. Cinnamon is used mainly as an aromatic condiment and flavouring additive in a wide variety of cuisines, sweet and savoury dishes, breakfast cereals, snack foods, bagels, teas, hot chocolate and traditional foods.

Black Pepper

Black pepper has been used since antiquity for both its flavour and as a medicine. Black pepper is the world’s most traded spice, and is one of the most common spices added to European cuisine and its descendants.

White Pepper

To produce white pepper, the outer layer of the peppercorn is removed before or after drying, leaving only the inner seed. White pepper tastes hotter than black pepper but is less complex, with fewer flavour notes. White pepper is used more often in light coloured dishes for aesthetic purposes.

Whole Cloves 

Cloves are the aromatic dried flower buds of an evergreen tree. Cloves are more often used in Asian, African and Middle Eastern cooking to add flavour to meat, curries and meat marinades. They are also used to enhance sweet dishes.

Clove stems

These are the stems of the clove flower bud. They possess the odour and taste of cloves, but are deficient in volatile oils. They are largely used as an adulterant in ground cloves and in the manufacture of clove oil.

Garcinia Cambogia

The fruit looks like a small pumpkin and is green to pale yellow in colour, before drying. This is used in cooking, including in the preparation of curries.

Our cinnamon is graded according to colour, diameter, density, blemishes, essential oil content and other factors. Our cinnamon is available in various grades, including Continental (C), Mexican (M) and Hamburg (H). Cinnamon exported to the EU is guaranteed to be Sulphur (So2) free.

Cinnamon Bark Oil

The oils found in cinnamon bark are thought to reduce spasms, reduce gas and stimulate appetite. This might also increase blood flow. Cinnamon bark also contains a chemical that might work like insulin to lower blood sugar.

GRP: Gun Powder

Ceylon Gunpowder tea is a popular Green tea variety, which has a strong full-bodies liquor with a unique taste with slightly over-fired feel. This is the last part of the manufacturing process, which is why it is in powder form.

GP1: Gun Powder One

The flavor varies according to the growing location of tea used for production. Its English name comes from its resemblance to grains of gunpowder. When purchasing gunpowder tea it is important to look for shiny pellets, which indicate that the tea is relatively fresh. Pellet size is also associated with quality. High quality gunpowder tea will have small, tightly rolled pellets.

These are tightly rolled tea leaves resembling grains of gunpowder. They are slightly opened, and slightly bigger then GP1.

CH: Chunmee

Chun Mee is a popular green tea. It has a dusty appearance and is generally more acidic and less sweet than other green teas. The tea is divided into several grades with numbers.

Similar to OP but colour must be green. Elegant in appearance, long, well twisted leaf which yields a pleasingly gentle brew.

BOP: Broken Orange Pekoe

This is the primary grade in the broken range, and is one of the most sought after grades. They are medium sized, well made, neat leaves. The flavor of the tea once brewed is rich and fresh, and the tea appears to be bright in color.

BOPF: Broken Orange Pekoe Fanning

This is one of the most common grades available in Sri Lanka. It's characteristics include a neat, and fairly clear tea leaf which is smaller in size than BOP. It is bright in color once brewed and has a rich flavor.

BP1: Broken Pekoe One

Broken Pekoe Tea is manufactured using an Unorthodox Black tea processing method known as CTC, which refers to the 'Cut Tear Curl' processing method. The tea leaves and tips are cut into tiny particles and then curled into smaller granular particles. This is a larger size leaf with bold round particles. Once brewed, it appears to be bright. Equivalent to size of high grown BOP, but granular.

BOP1: Broken Orange Pekoe One

This grade has leaves which are wiry and medium in length. Once brewed it appears to be are golden in color, with a mild and malty flavor to it. It is one of the best teas in the broken range.

Broken Pekoe

Due to the slow growth of the tea plant at a very high altitude this broken leaf tea has a full flavour and aroma, with a hint of citrus and a touch of the malty flavours.

BOP1A: Broken Orange Pekoe One ‘A’

These are light weight, large leaves. They are lighter in colour and have a mellow soothing taste once brewed.

FBOP: Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe

These are smaller than BOP1 with presence of tips, and larger than FBOPF1. They are manufactured with young tender tea buds and tips, and have short slightly wiry, less twisted broken leaves.

FBOP1: Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe One

Once brewed, you will find a delicate amber liquor with notes of stewed fruit, malt and herbs. This tea is bright and elegant, with body and texture.

FBOPFEXSP: Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fanning Extra Special

These are silvery tips that produce a floral taste and spicy nuances. A full-bodied yet mellow, aromatic yet considerably light on the palate. A whole leaf tea with an abundance of long tips, similar to FBOP1 but firm and blacker leaf with much better leafy tips.

FBOPFSP: Flowery Broken Orange Pekoe Fanning’s Special

This tea is similar to FBOPF1 but firm and more black leaf with much better tips.

OP: Orange Pekeo

This is the highest and main grade of tea produced. This comes as a whole leaf which is wiry, long and thin in character. It's flavor when brewed is of a delicate fragrance and tastes exquisitely delicious. The color of the tea comes to a light pale color.

OPA: Orange Pekoe ‘A’

The Orange Pekoe-A Tea in full, is a fine grade of tea which consists of slightly larger leaves, compared to other Orange Pekoe varieties like OP and OP1. OPA is the Ceylon black tea grade that has the boldest, large size leaves in appearance. Made of long bold and slightly twisted tea leaves.

OP1: Orange Pekoe One

This grade has a delicate, long, wiry leaf. It has a light liquor and the a refined taste that adds to its high quality and rich color.

PEK1: Flowery Pekoe

Similar to Pekoe but smaller in size.

This grade consists of leaves that are short and not so wiry as OP, once it is brewed, it will have a hint of bitterness and a sweet finish to its flavor, and its rich in color. Twisted and Coarse tea.

PFGS: Pekoe Fanning

This is fanning’s broken leaves, and is slightly larger than dust.

PF1: Pekoe Fanning One

This is a smaller size leaf with strong tasting tea. Equivalent in size to grainy high grown BOPF, but granular.

D: Dust

The smallest particles produced during the production of black tea are Dust tea. These grades are generally used commercially in tea bags for day to day use as they brew quickly compared to other grades.

DUST1: Dust One

This tea powder has a fairly smooth appearance without much tea fiber or stalk. Once brewed, the liquor is strong and has a dark reddish color. is gathered from the crushing of broken leaves, which leaves only small tea particles.

Silver Tip

These teas are small, unopened leaves of the tea plant. These tips are also commonly known as "buds," although they do not form flowers and also appear silvery with white undertones.
